How much is the battery rebate in Australia in 2026?
The federal Cheaper Home Batteries program provides approximately $2,400 for a typical residential system. State rebates vary: Victoria offers $1,400 (Solar Homes), Queensland up to $3,000 (Battery Booster), and South Australia up to $2,000 (Home Battery Scheme). Usable battery capacity
The calculator takes your selected battery size and applies a 95% depth-of-discharge factor (modern lithium batteries reserve a small buffer to protect cell life).

Daily energy cycled
We estimate how much energy your battery can cycle each day based on your total usage and when you use the most electricity. Night-heavy households cycle more through the battery.
Each kWh cycled saves the difference between what you would have paid at peak rates and what it costs to charge (solar feed-in foregone, or off-peak grid rate). A 90% round-trip efficiency factor accounts for conversion losses.

Rebates and net cost
The federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate and any applicable state rebate are deducted from the installed cost to calculate your net outlay.
