Each stump is priced by its average diameter at ground level. Larger stumps require bigger grinding heads and more time.

Depth surcharge
Full-depth grinding (400–500mm) for replanting or building costs more than surface-level grinding (150–200mm) for turf.

Spreading or large lateral roots increase grinding time. A compact root ball has no surcharge; spreading roots add 15%; large laterals add 35%.
